Yoga essentials

I recently got into Restorative Yoga which is so calming and refreshing. In our crazy stressed out world it’s great to practice deep breathing, focused and intentional movement that does not injure us while calming our parasympathetic nervous system. I feel like a different person once I open my eyes. Yoga in general is great and we converted an attic space into a yoga/pilates studio which I love. Here are some of my favorite elements of the room.

  1. I like the lights dim and this floor lamp casts the perfect amount of light so you are not blinded by ceiling lights while trying to relax.

  2. Candles create a soothing glow and I love these battery powered ones. I feel relaxed just looking at them.

  3. Himalayan Salt Lamp known for its therapeutic and relaxing properties is dimmable and looks so pretty.

  4. Yoga mats- obviously! There are so many to choose from but I really like these from Lululemon

  5. Yoga blocks- again, many to choose from but I’m crazy and match them to my mat. Just creates a nice aesthetic. Check these out

  6. Bolsters and pillows for the restoring poses. Check out all the yoga supplies on Manduka while you are there

  7. Traveling to a yoga studio outside your home? Great travel bag here

  8. Yoga straps are so helpful for a great stretch

  9. I usually go barefoot but sometimes (especially for Pilates) I wear these sticky socks

  10. Lastly, I have a blanket for the ending pose, Savasana, where you lie still and set your intention for the day. This snuggly blanket is so great I bought several for different spaces in my home!

Hope this helps you to create a space in your home for your practice. Let me know if you have tried Restorative yoga and how you felt!
